From Healthy Meal Prep to a River Heights Tapas & Sushi Bistro
Meal Set started as a healthy catering and meal-prep company, building balanced, ready-made meals for busy Winnipeggers under the Meal Set and later Meal Set Go brands. Health-forward cooking is still part of the kitchen's DNA — pre-portioned meals and variety packs go out on scheduled weekly delivery windows to this day.
As the following grew, the team stepped into full restaurant service and opened Meal Set Bistro | Sushi at 612 Academy Road, inside the boutique shopping district that runs through River Heights. The tapas and sushi menu blends Japanese flavours with global influences — small plates, chef-driven rolls, and specialty dishes built for sharing across the table.
Tourism Winnipeg describes Meal Set as "a healthy catering company and restaurant specializing in sushi and tapas," and that dual identity is exactly what makes the bistro work: an everyday neighbourhood spot for River Heights, Wellington Crescent, Crescentwood and Tuxedo, and a special-occasion table for date nights, birthdays and small group dinners just minutes from Assiniboine Park and Polo Park.
Every plate here follows one idea: that all cuisine is a fusion of culture, place, and a chef's personal creativity. That's how takoyaki and kalbi short ribs end up beside Lobster Bao, the Mangolicious Roll and a Deluxe Sushi Pizza Slice on the same Academy Road table.
